"Corey Helford Gallery is pleased to announce a special twelve-day exhibition of Chris Anthony’s photographic series, Victims & Avengers. On display in its entirety for the first time, the collection of limited-edition prints will be unveiled during a private reception on Saturday, January 27th, and will be on view until February 7, 2007.
Powerful, shocking and unforgettable are words often used to describe the haunting images of women and children in Chris Anthony’s Victims & Avengers. The series of twenty-seven photographs explores domestic violence, a subject with personal history for Anthony. A hint of blood decorates each scene in the deeply affecting narrative about victims of abuse and their vengeance. They are portraits of the “moment of release, like the calm after the storm.”
The exhibition also features a limited-edition portfolio containing twelve 10” x 20” giclee prints, signed and numbered. Included in the box set are legal documents such as a Divorce Order, Restraining Order, and Last Will and Testament, as well as a Checklist for Victims of Domestic Violence.
Chris Anthony is an internationally recognized photographer who has worked on projects for numerous clients, including Sony Playstation 3 and “The Black Parade” for My Chemical Romance. His first collection of photographs entitled, “RED WHITE BLACK AND BLUE” was featured in gallery exhibitions in Los Angeles, Stockholm and San Francisco. Born and raised in Stockholm, Anthony also briefly lived in Indianapolis and Florence. In his teens, he worked as a rock photographer and went on to direct music videos and commercials.
