By using to the iconography of today and yesterday's popular culture, Casey Weldon's work aims to awaken a feelings of nostalgia within the viewer, though often along with a sense humor, melancholy, and longing for times lost.

We are excited to welcome back Casey Weldonfor his 4th RUN as he brings us the his latest floating painting "It's In The Air".

"A lot of people react to the vision of blood differently. I think there is an instinctual feeling of repulsiveness that most humans have. Usually if you see blood, it does not mean a good thing. Of course blood is such a prevalent part of pop culture these days, with a lot of movies and video games featuring so much of it that it becomes campy gore. I wanted to try and paint a picture that included a lot of blood, but was neither repulsive or gory, but beautiful and confusing. I honestly can't say where the idea originally came from, but I remember always having a vision of a woman quizzically touching floating blobs of liquid. I've been slightly obsessed with using blood vessels as other things, like in the place of hair or plant life. I liked the idea of a fur coat made out of the endings of blood vessels, and decided to pair the two for extra bloodiness.

The original piece is acrylic on wood and it was painted in August of 2012. The piece was for a show curated by the artist collective I am a part of, Prisma. The show was simply centered around the theme “Blood”. The original is sold." - Casey Weldon
