Here’s another poignant piece of Americana from Norman Rockwell; but seeing as it was painted during the war, it’s a bit insipid…nothing to really inspire the home front. I decided to remedy that by butching up the young leatherneck’s show-and-tell. Besides the enemy flag, he’s also sporting a necklace made of severed Nip ears. The prize souvenirs however are the genuine Jap heads; two shrunken and two still on the skull – all of them expertly prepared by Dayak headhunters on Borneo.
