"This piece created in the Spring of 2013 as part of a recent body of work focused on particular aspects of the human condition. I’m really interested in our (humanity’s) penchant for war and destruction. And that’s everything from a bar brawl to gang warfare to all out war. It’s such a strange and fascinating aspect of humanity that doesn’t seem like it can be abated. But the paintings themselves are meant to view this through a particular lens. What happens when you accept this? The idea that this is just part and parcel to being a human being. There’s a certain beauty in that acceptance…not everything is black and white. That’s where the title came from. That small area, the excluded middle, that often gets overlooked. Yes, the original is for sale here with some other original work from me as well. " - John Wentz
