Memory Serigraph from 2010. 6 color screen print with 3 split fountains on Neenah desert storm paper. Art print signed and numbered by John Howard with a run of 100. Measures 18x24.

This print is not about a particular memory, but about human memory in general. Late last year I found out my Mom's has Alzheimer's, and it had become pretty bad. I'm an only child, and she needed me to come in and take over some things she has always taken pride in doing for herself. It was a hard time, and in between working toward a new way for her to be safe and happy, every evening I did some drawing to help keep my own sanity intact. Those drawings became this.

There are many references here, one is the central seahorse that represents the hippocampus, a part of the brain that helps with long-term memory and spatial navigation. A portion of these sales will go to Alzheimer's research, which seems very close to figuring out this tragic disease.
