In the wake of the murder of George Floyd, the Museum of Graffiti brought together 8 artists to paint a mural that served as an educational teaching tool for visitors and members of our community. The mural, which spells out AMERICAN HISTORY, portrayed famous figures who have been integral parts in standing up for change in our country. The mural tells the story of race relations in chronological order, starting with the 1800's and the time of slavery shown inside the "A" in American. Along the mural you encounter other key figures until you get to George Floyd in the "Y" at the end of the word "History." As you approached each letter, QR codes took you to educational videos with information about the accomplishments of each hero. Because the mural was recently destroyed, we proudly release this commemorative print that features the work of artists 1DER, Kyle Holbrook, Tierra Armstrong, E-Tone, Cyst, Ket, Cale K2S, and PHD.

Zoom in to see life-like portraits of Nat Turner, a black American slave who led the only effective, sustained slave rebellion; John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry; Fredrick Douglas; Marcus Garvey, founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League; Harriet and Harry T. Moore, organizers for the NAACP in Florida who were murdered in 1951 by the KKK; Rosa Parks; Emmett Till; Malcolm X; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; Angela Davis; Mohammed Ali; Eleanor Bumpers; Arthur McDuffy and the Miami Riots of 1980; Trayvon Martin; Mike Brown; Colin Kaepernick; Public Enemy; Breonna Taylor and George Floyd and many more.
