Peterson, Shaunna (June 1973- )

Peterson is a California artist and graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca.

She considers her father's drag racing as her most significant creative influence stating, "the bulk of my influences in art come from being raised around cars, pin-striping and pretty girls bearing "Miss" titles (Miss Winston, Miss Hurst Shifter)." She also cites vintage "advertising, antiques, lingerie, toys, and good ol' rock & roll" as well as MAD Magazine, and the "wit and wisdom of Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein and Jim Henson" as additional influences in her creativity.

Peterson is a fan of the pin-up art of Gil Elvgren (March 15, 1914-February 29, 1980), the Austrian Expressionist painter Egon Schiele (12 June 1890 – 31 October 1918), the artist/cartoonist Ed "Big Daddy" Roth (March 4, 1932 – April 4, 2001) and SpongeBob SquarePants creator, marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg (August 21, 1961- ).
